I didn't bother to read too much about the background of this figure. It's supposed to be a concept or rather Hot Toys' interpretation of HR Giger's creation. I scored it cos I felt I needed at least one Hot Toys Alien figure in my collection. So I settled on this fellow.
I have read numerous complaints about about previous Hot Toys Alien figures in terms of the rubber parts on its body cracking and joints snapping and wonder if this piece will suffer the same fate. Only time will tell but for now it looks good on my shelf.
As most of its joints are covered by rubber skin, its articulation is very limited and Hot Toys have thrown in an instruction sheet on how not to destroy the figure with extreme posing. Hence, the following static shots.
Its tail is made of bendy rubber sheathed over a wire and he comes with additional poseable hands which I did not take pix of, along with a base and backdrop.
Limited articulation aside, I love the details on this figure.
The limited articulation on this figure places it in the McFarlane bracket for me, i.e., toys that have a few articulation points and are almost as good as statues, but it looks rather awesome.
And here it is with Hot Toys Predator, which is another licence that helped Hot Toys make their name.
