Earlier mentioned in this post, here's a quick look at Argentina's pack.

adidas' official marketing spiel goes like this:

With a history dating back to 1930, the FIFA World Cup has become a shining example of how a sporting event can become an inspiration for millions of people globally. Celebrating the heritage of this year’s South African event, the first ever on African soil, adidas presents a truly unique series of packs that will appeal to football fans, adidas enthusiasts, collectors and memorabilia fiends alike. There are 5 country packs in total, namely, Argentina, France, Germany, Mexico and Spain, while for the first time ever a jointly packaged project featuring offerings from both the Performance and Originals departments at adidas is made publicly available. Beautifully packaged, each box set contains two jerseys containing the team jersey that will be worn at this year’s tournament and a historical version from great moments in the competitions past. The boxes themselves feature incredible attention to detail with hidden magnets to secure them together and built in display cases.

The current team jersey is presented by adidas Football and features the unique adidas TECHFIT™ technology, available to the public for the first time ever and providing proven benefits in control, power, and endurance. The historical jersey, presented by adidas Originals, is a replica from a great FIFA World Cup tournament that has featured in the country’s past and is guaranteed to induce enduring football memories for fans of the beautiful game everywhere. Look for these later this month, available in strictly limited numbers through select adidas retailers worldwide.

I was immediately enticed by the look of the package when I first saw the online pix, and even more so when I saw the actual product. Work of art, this.

Based on the preview pix, I initially thought that the whole package was one individual piece, like this.

But fiddling with it revealed that the Performance and Originals sections of the package are attached by magnets and can be separated.

Here's the contents of the Performance section which includes a player issue shirt and a write up.

The player issue shirt is the one that comes in the Argentina adidas 10/12 Home Kit Limited Edition Box Set. The shirt is accessed by removing the clear plastic panel from the package. adidas made it clear that this shirt was influenced by the '86 World Cup winning shirt by Le Coq Sportif. Incidentally, Le Coq Sportif has released a decently priced reissue of the Argentina 1986 shirt bearing Maradona's 10.

The adidas Originals section contains a card summarising Argentina's footballing achievements and a small card mentioning adidas' affiliation with Argentina.

Similarly accessed by removing the plastic panel from the package, this shirt is a reissue of the 1978 adidas shirt.

Spurs fans may have great affinity for this shirt, as their 2008 hall of fame inductees, Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa wore this shirt.

Here's more pix of the contents of the card.

The main attraction of this pack for me is that it contains a reissue of Argentina's first World Cup winning shirt, as well as the 2010 World Cup shirt that is heavily influenced by their second World Cup win.
