My Top Five Fave Kitbashes of 2008
Posted: Saturday, December 27, 2008 by Shaun in Labels: 12 inch one sixth sixth scale, kitbash
I initially wanted to include these few figures into my 2008 Top Ten list, but decided to give them a separate category on their own.

5. Roman Tribune

I really liked Gladiator cos Russell Crowe's portrayal of Maximus was so charismatic that it was difficult not to root for him. There's been no official figure in 1:6 of him, though there have been amazing customs I've seen. This kitbash was put together with the head sculpt and body from Hot Toys US Forces NSW and Ignite's Roman Tribune. It's my tribute to one of my favourite movie characters.4. Terminator T-800

I'm not a big Terminator fan, but I appreciate the design that goes into the Endoskeleton, hence my purchase way back when. This figure was put together upon a whim, when I some how came across clothes and headsculpts that allowed this figure at least three display options, namely, clean, damaged and battered.
He looks fine next to the Endoskelton and uses a Hot Toys True Type body, which means posing him is more fun than Sideshow's version.3. Spiderman 3 Alter Egos

These are straight and simple head swaps which couldn't have happened if I never made my way to Hong Kong this year.
I had seen these headsculpts back in '07 when people started posting them on the boards, being available at a reasonable price on ebay HK and ridiculous price on ebay.com. As an alter-ego freak, I wanted these head sculpts, but not badly enough to bid for them. I was fortunate to score them on my last day in HK, when Wife kindly allowed me five hours to hit the streets on Mong Kok on my own.2. James Bond

Daniel Craig's visceral performance in Casino Royale left 1:6 collectors clamouring for a decent rendition of him. While there were head sculpts that were released along the way that bore some sense of resemblance to him, frankly nothing came close to what Loading Toys had to offer. This is a simple kitbash, using Loading Toys' Dangerous Man's head, Hot Toys True Type body and Saturday Toys Men's Suit Set 01B.1. Bruce Wayne

The Dark Knight was film of the year and best comic film ever for me. And Hot Toys' take on the movie's characters were indeed masterpieces. I especially love their rendition of Christian Bale's likeness and feel that only these clothes could do the almost perfect sculpt justice. I keep admiring these figures repeatedly, and the fact that this pix adorns my desktop at the point of writing speaks alot about it's staying power.
Do share with me your favourite kitbashes of the year. It'd be cool to check out your pix/post.
