1:6 Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece The Dark Knight Batman (Original Costume) Review

I had a bit of time to play around with this figure today and thought I'd post a few thoughts about it.

I skipped Hot Toys' first Batman Begins figure largely due to the headsculpt, opting to go for Takara's interpretation of the character. It was my favourite among what was put out in the market by Asian toy companies at that point in time, with Medicom being the other contender. Michael Crawford has a thorough comparative review of all three figures at his site, which I believe has helped many in making their 1/6 Batman Begins purchasing decision.

Takara's version also came with a Bruce Wayne's head, which kickstarted my kitbashing attempts, giving it that edge over the other figures for me.
In producing this figure, Hot Toys has had the benefit of hindsight, improving on what was lacking in their earlier product. The most notable improvement is to Bat's headsculpt and this time round. We also get Bruce Wayne's head and a decent assortment of accessories.

I like the material used for the suit. If you've had the chance to handle Hot Toys's muscular body before, basically they've replicated the material used for his lower body on the upper body, and made it slightly more malleable, which means Hot Toys Bats' articulation is improved and he can achieve poses Takara's cannot, due the restrictiveness of the material used.

Takara's interpretation looks more streamlined while Hot Toys' comes across as slightly bulky. The bulk appears to be more movie accurate though, and my only complaint is that the closed fists look inproportionate to his body.

I would say this is one of the coolest Batman figure I have had the pleasure to own, and would strongly recommend this to anyone on the hunt for a definitive 1:6 Batman Begins figure.

I did an earlier preview of Hot Toys The Dark Knight Batman (Original Costume) here and have pix of a kitbashed Bruce Wayne here as well as Hot Toys Joker here.
